Brief Description:
ShareILL (pronounced "cheryl") is a web-based gateway to electronic and print resources relating to all aspects of interlibrary loan (ILL), document delivery, and resource sharing. Intended to be comprehensive and international in scope, ShareILL features links provided by registered users to resources that will help practitioners locate materials for their customer base, manage the ILL/Document Delivery/Resource Sharing process, and keep up with developments in the profession.

Brief history
ILLWeb, created by Mary Hollerich in 2001, began its life as a website. The site was one of the first to bring together the myriad of resources used daily in interlibrary loan operations and included, as it does today, links to sites that directly pertain to the work of the resource sharing professional, whether a newbie looking for basic information on the ILL Code or seasoned professionals looking for information on the latest ISO ILL news.

Beginning in late 2006, the static website was completely updated and revised. Using Web 2.0 technologies, the site became a wiki with the intention of providing a wider, more interactive and collaborative space for library and information professionals to share their knowledge, expertise, favorite tools, tips and help. At that time, a contest was held to replace the ILLWeb name. ShareILL, in its current format as a wiki, launched on June 15, 2007.

Contributing and Editing

Administration, oversight, management, feedback and questions
ShareILL is a group effort but it is also a community of library and information professionals. Content or links added to ShareILL should be relevant, accurate, current, reliable, verifiable, properly cited (if appropriate) and neutrally presented. Vandalism or other abuse of user accounts should be reported immediately to ShareILL administrators. ShareILL administrators will periodically review the site for editorial quality and formatting and page layout problems, however contributors can also correct errors.
